Movies Every Entrepreneur Should Watch

Entrepreneurship is not a job, it is a lifestyle.

It is tough to manage time when you are busy building your venture. Success in today’s world will take a lot of hard work, grit, and perseverance. But remember, constant work can never be an efficient or sustainable way of accomplishing anything. You should fold in time to rest, reflect and learn for your surroundings during this journey.

Develop a habit of learning from the things you watch and listen to. Watching relevant movies where character go through similar experiences can be an effective learning experience. It can inspire new ideas or give you a motto to come back to over and over again. Nothing can be more inspiring than being persuaded by your favourite character. Because knowingly or unknowingly we cherish them, nurture them, most importantly we try to be them.

In this blog post, we will be review and recommend four movies that we believe every entrepreneur should keep on their must watch list.

Pursuit of Happiness:

Directed in the year 2006, The Pursuit of Happiness is a biographical drama. It is directed by Gabriele Muccino, starring Will Smith. It is recognised as Smith's most memorable performance to date.

Pursuit of Happiness is an inspiring story of a struggling salesman. Chris Gardner, who keeps the hope of finding happiness despite all odds. Even after losing his money, wife, home he keeps going on as he did not want to let life defeat him. Rather than giving up, he stands back up to build a beautiful life for himself and his son.

One of the most iconic dialogues of this movie is:

''You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period''

It is dialogues as such, beautiful storytelling, and mesmerising portrayal of the characters that make this an outstanding motivational movie for entrepreneurs. Each time you watch this you will end up discovering a new lesson. This movie will let you reevaluate your potential and teach you to be optimistic. You will also realise the importance of having a strong ethical practice in life to find the life you want. If you haven’t watched this yet, WATCH IT TODAY. It’s readily available on the web, you can also find it in Netflix.

The Godfather:

The Godfather is a 1972 film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Even though this is adapted from Mario Puzo's bestselling novel of the same name, the cinematic fan base of the movie is enormous.

This is a masterpiece for entrepreneurs. The story of the Godfather and, his son Michael Corleone is about how they built a business from nothing, that later on becomes the largest in New York.

Although the plot is based on an illegal takeover of the empire, which we will never recommend. But how the protagonists climb up the ladder of success and what their business principle are the key takeaway here.

The Prestige:

Christopher Nolan has veritably changed the narration of the cinematic world with his sublime direction and storytelling. Among many of his films, ''The Prestige'' is our favourite. This period film, set in the late 19th century, has not only received accolades as a movie but also appreciated and loved by the audience for its incredibly surprising storyline.

After being released in 2006, the movie was an overnight success. The story is about two rival magicians and the nature of their ambition.  It shows how immersed you can become into your craft and the effects it may have on others. It also portrays the dark side of ambition and how it can turn into a disorder if done obsessively.

Like artists, entrepreneurs often long for perfection. It is important to keep in mind the dangers of being engulfed with it.

The Wolf of Wall Street:

The wolf of wall street directed by Martin Scorsese was premiered in 2013. The story of the movie revolves around the protagonist name Jordan Belfort. A wall street stockbroker who indulged in the drug-fueled stockbroker culture to make money. This movie is controversial yet well received by millions in the world.

''The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't achieve it.'' The movie might be too dark for a few. But it can teach priceless lessons about success, popularity, achievements, greed, and the importance of being ambitious. Also, it portrays how fame can jeopardise your entire life with wrong actions. One must adhere to a disciplined life while celebrating success.

Fictional stories have a great impact on our lives, much more than we realize. How we create, process and develop our thinking is often influenced by what we surround ourselves with. When you watch movies like The Godfather or The Pursuit of Happiness, you are likely to find yourself speculating your trajectory with theirs.  If you are ever in need of inspiration or want to take a break from your exhausting schedule, we recommend you to watch/rewatch these movies and reflect on the deeper meanings of these artwork.
